Surfing In Sri Lanka poem ish

A surfing i shall go on my surfboard I’ll catch some waves

I’ll paddle out then get ready to paddle forward so when a big wave comes i’ll paddle slowly then faster to catch the wave Once I’ve caught it I’ll stand up I’ll stand up to surf to the beach And on the way I’ll turn left and right And once ashore i’ll do it all over again So that I can do it well enough that i don’t need a instructor. So with my friends in galle I’ll surf the alongside them to fun and explore the wonderful waters of Sri Lanka and when I do all this I’ll become good enough to surf the waves of California with my cousins and Brothers and explore the world through surfboards because waves crash every where so i can explore those place with a surfboard, but i must head forth to go learn more one last lesson then i’m done so for now I go to surf.

Sri Lanka

So far the ocean has been a lot of fun. Though it's not the only thing we have done, we also went on 2 safari’s. On the first one we saw a leopard, peacock, sloth bear, monkeys and lots of birds. That safari was in Wilpattu eco park, Our next safari was in Hurulu eco park, but first we went to Jaffna. Jaffna was a very nice place, you could really get the local vibe there. What they are known for is their dried fish. Me and my dad walked around the fishing area to see what it was like. We saw lots of boats and fish drying and some prawns being cooked. Though we didn't get to try the dried fish till we got to Ella. After Jaffna we went to Sigiriya to see the famous rock that had a fortress on top. Here we also went to Hurulu eco park where we saw Elephants, that was one of the few mammals we saw, in fact 90% of are safari animals were Elephants. After Sigiriya we went to kandy where we saw the temple of the tooth and the royal palace. We also went to a Gem museum . after kandy we went to Newra Ellia it was very cool and cloudy we just hung around because we felt a little under the weather after 4 days there we went to Ella were we did two hikes one to see the 9 arch bridge (#2) and the other just to hike (#1) I liked the first one more because it was cool and rainy. And now we're in Dickwella and surfing and hanging around. Some cool surfing news. I can catch the waves without help. And to those who haven't surfed it's harder than it looks and it's super tiring so after almost an hour you're too tired to do any more. Well that's all for now.

Sri Lanka Hub, Galle, day 1-7.

Day 1 We went to Unawatuna beach and swam with a turtle, ate pizza and played card games. That was pretty much it for the first day. On that day we also met 2 new families. One from belgium and the other american- german. They both were really nice and friendly. Day 2.

We went to Galle dutch fort and did a walking tour. We saw a lot of bastions, which is where we also saw a couple of canons. We toured around and i Learned something interesting: the Japanese attacked Sri Lanka. After the tour we had some Gelato. I had the best matcha gelato ever. Then we went for a lunch of traditional Sri lankan food. It was okay but not the best.

Day 3. We went to Midigama fruit farm. There we did a tour where we saw star fruit and also we got to eat it, then we saw Papay, banana, pineapple, passion fruit, jackfruit, and black and red pepper. We also saw chickens, cows and baby goats that we got to feed them to. After that we made Jackfruit something. We did this by peeling the meat away from the prickly skin and de-seeding it. And then for lunch we had some dals and Rice there was so good.

Day 4. We went to Dewatta beach to do a clean up. I helped a little then I got to help some local fishermen pull in a huge net. It was very hard and it took about thirty minutes. They got a lot of stuff from it. Afterwards we got in a Tuk Tuk to a beach where we could swim with a lot of sea turtle’s which was a lot of fun. It was like a small logon where all turtles were so we just swam with them. Then later that evening we went to a sea turtle hatchery and hospital. We saw baby sea turtles, medium sized turtles. Turtles with poisonous toenails. We also got to release some turtles into the ocean. And best of all we got to tickle a turtle. When you scratched his shell he would riggle around. It was so cute and funny.

Day 5. We went to a snake farm and kai beach club. At the snake farm we got to hold a snake, actually multiple snakes. They were a rock python, green tree snakes, and a trinket snake. My favorite was probably the rock python. He was so chill and would just hang around your neck. After we had held them for a little bit he bring out a cobra. It was very scary. After the snake farm we went to Kai beach club, where we swam in a pool and ate sushi. I went to go join my dad for surfing but right as i got out there we had to leave because of some lighting.

Day 6. We went to leisure land which was a big natural water park. We did some slides and a rope swing. I was too scared to do a lot of things but I did a rope swing and a lot of slides. Sadly that evening I got bit by a dog.

Day 7. I didn’t do anything because I was recovering from some rabies injections. Well that was a recap of the hub in Galle Sri Lanka day 1 to day 7.

Sri Lanka poem.

Beep beep goes the Tuk tuk.

Vroom vroom go scooters.

Crash roar, go the waves.

Pop pop go the Fire works

Tweet caw go the birds.

Slither goes the monitor.

Chit chat go all the humans.

Rustles go to the leaves in the wind.

Splish splash goes to the children.

Bump go the turtles.

It's so hot says everyone.

Hisss go the cobra’s.

About Wide Horizons

What if we found the mute button on the cultural messaging around hustle and money being the only currency to respect/strive for. What if we spent a year listening to other messages from humanity? What if we experienced ourselves outside our bubble of privilege? What if we shared a moment of togetherness in this finite space of childhood.   Our idea to “world school” was born from a year of asking what really matters to us in this moment of time. We realized that while nothing in life is guaranteed that we currently have an abundance of privilege. Health, savings, a home support system, a love for one another and a deep desire to create meaningful experiences together gave us the courage to say yes to this project.
