Sawyer Egypt

I.

The bread is good.

The bugs are annoying, they crawl on you and give you bites.

The bread is good.

The sugar cane is sweet and crunchy.

The bread is good.

The Tuk tuks and donkey carts are fast.

The bread is good.

II.

Places I liked, the sand dunes, the salt lakes, the secret spring, camping in the sand dunes, driving with Ussef. I also played in a Shalle fortress and went sand boarding 2x.

The farm had goats and chickens, rabbits, guinea pig, baby turkeys, pigeons, cats, cats with babies, a pool, date palms, a well to swim in, also a parrot and a hamster.

The people I liked were, Indigo, Astra, Luca, Camilla and Dan, and Ussef.

III.

Pyramid conspiracy:

I think the pyramids were made out of lightning. Lighting stuck a mountain and made it close to the right shape. Then the Egyptians came along and chiseled it. I think this because not all the stones are perfectly square. They also chiseled chambers.

IV.

The food is good

The sail swings slow

The food is good

The mosquitos are annoying

The food is good

The sky is black

The food is good

The waves are strong

The food is good

The water is dark

The food is good

The wind is nice

The food is good

V.

Once upon a time there was a Dugong that was eating sea grass. Then he decided that he wanted to go scuba diving. So he swam to Sea Dancer dive shop and asked Steve. When he got in the water he saw most of the things he always saw, like coral and fish. He was Surprised he could breath under water. He swam on and on and then got hungry and ate some sea grass and saw a Nautilus and lived happily ever after.

Why Coming to Egypt is a Good Idea:

I think coming to Egypt is a good idea because of the great pyramids of Giza.

They rise so high into the sky. They are some of the biggest structures of history. And the great sphinx is gigantic too. Another reason for  siwa oasis. You can go anywhere in tuktuks. climbing palm trees, jumping in springs and seeing all of the temples. camping in the desert is  SO MUCH FUN!!! Drinking juice at Cleopatra's spring.

And dahab red sea snorkeling, sting rays, coral, diving, fish, small but big I love dahab. And Cairo is one of the biggest cities in the world so big and crazy it was the best!!!!

Sawyer, I like the way your poetry captures what you notice through your senses - what you see, taste, feel. I know a lot about your experiences with just the few words of your poems.

I did not know what a Dugong was until you taught me about it. I am wondering if there are any that exist in the waters around where you were.

I liked your diving journals. That's such a good idea because when you get back to DaHab in the future you can compare if things are the same or different.

Your Pyramid Conspiracy is so imaginative. I can really imagine it just as you wrote it - mountains struck by lightning and chiseled into pyramids.…

About Wide Horizons

What if we found the mute button on the cultural messaging around hustle and money being the only currency to respect/strive for. What if we spent a year listening to other messages from humanity? What if we experienced ourselves outside our bubble of privilege? What if we shared a moment of togetherness in this finite space of childhood.   Our idea to “world school” was born from a year of asking what really matters to us in this moment of time. We realized that while nothing in life is guaranteed that we currently have an abundance of privilege. Health, savings, a home support system, a love for one another and a deep desire to create meaningful experiences together gave us the courage to say yes to this project.
