This is my first entry in Croatia. We started off by going to an abandoned airbase. It was super dark and terrifying, I got scared out of my mind. But, I believe that it would have been more fun with a tour guide. After that we made our way to our Air B and B in Plitvice National park. The next day we hiked the Plitvice lakes. They are known for their waterfalls and the clarity of the water. We hiked for about 9 miles, most of the hiking was on board walks. The scenery was like a rainforest with lots of water. You walk over the water alot.

The Next day we went Kayaking on the Mvežnica river. The water was fairly warm but the day was rainy and cold resulting in a cold day where we were mostly wet. Lots of small waterfalls, fun swimming and jumping off the falls. It was also a rainforest and it was lots of fun to kayak on the clear water.

After we pulled out of the water we began a two hour drive to Zagreb to meet some friends. Once we got to Zagreb we layed around the apartment. It is a very small space so there isn't much we can do. The next day we went to see some friends whose names are Kai and Kiarra. We played around a park with them, and went to lunch. We had lunch at a Lebanese place and the food was really good. I had cucumber salad and shared a falafel.  During that time we decided to have a sleepover, after that we walked around Zagreb. To prepare for our sleepover, me and my brothers packed a bag for the sleepover. While my mom made dinner. They were staying a short walk away. During the sleepover we watched 3 movies, Monkey King, Dungeons and Dragons and Christmas Chronicles 1. Sadly the next day they had to leave for home in the Czech Republic. And I want to visit them for my birthday because Kiarra’s Birthday is 12 days after mine and we are both turning 12.

Two days later we went to a military parade. This parade consisted of multiple vehicles such as tanks, boats, armored vehicles, and swat vehicles. This parade had every time period of soldiers in costume dating back to the medieval times. It was very cool and lots

and lots of fun.

About Wide Horizons

What if we found the mute button on the cultural messaging around hustle and money being the only currency to respect/strive for. What if we spent a year listening to other messages from humanity? What if we experienced ourselves outside our bubble of privilege? What if we shared a moment of togetherness in this finite space of childhood.   Our idea to “world school” was born from a year of asking what really matters to us in this moment of time. We realized that while nothing in life is guaranteed that we currently have an abundance of privilege. Health, savings, a home support system, a love for one another and a deep desire to create meaningful experiences together gave us the courage to say yes to this project.
